HUNTINGTON, WV - The Cabell County Emergency Operations is still activated to provide public information regarding shelters and related non-emergency assistance. Citizens are encouraged to call the non-emergency number (304) 526-6544 for information instead of calling the 911 center.

Emergency Managment is attempting to locate additional facilities at this time. Emergency officials are encouraging citizens who do not have power to contact family, friends and/or neighbors who have power and seek shelter there if possible. If this option is unavailable to you please utilize the shelters at the following locations.

Cabell County Shelters/Comfort Stations are still open at the Following locations for heat relief. Shelters are facilities available to provide citizens a place to stay. Comfort stations are simply available to provide citizens a place to stop in and cool off from the extreme heat temperatures, water is available.

Emergency Responders, City Officials, Public Health and Cabell County Emergency Managment continue to monitor the situation and prioritize resources to best serve the citizens of Cabell County. Citizens who are exposed to extreme heat or work in high environments may be at risk for heat stress. Exposure to extreme heat can result in occupational illnesses and injuries. Heat stress can result in heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, or heat rashes. Heat can also increase the risk of injuries in workers as it may result in sweaty palms, fogged-up safety glasses, and dizziness. Citizens who are 65 years of age or older, overweight, have heart disease or high blood pressure, or take medications are at a higher risk to be affected by extreme heat. It is critical to stay hydrated, find cool shelter and wear lightweight clothing.

ATTENTION: Please note the change in sheltering/comfort options.
